AKTOR: The VEOK, Metro, and the target for a turnover of 1.48 billion

Alexander Exarchou does not exclude entering VEOK; what does he say about Thessaloniki Metro? Five new subsidiaries debut on October 1st. Property acquisitions of Prodea expected within July. The goal is 600MW of renewable energy projects.

The AKTOR Group remains focused on achieving strong cash flows from real estate, renewable energy, and concessions to offset potential fluctuations in construction from 2030. With a market capitalization of €1.1 billion, ranking among the Large Cap on the Athens Stock Exchange, it projects a turnover of €1.48 billion for 2025 and an EBITDA of €200 million, with hopes of similar or better performance over the next five years.

Awaiting the completion of the acquisition of AKTOR Concessions near August 15, the management continues negotiations for two concession projects. When asked about VEOK, CEO Alexander Exarchou implied confirmation without direct confirmation, indicating an announcement in the coming weeks. The group also updates on a major concession project not related to the Rion-Antirion Bridge or other large groups like GEK Terna or Ellaktor.

Regarding the Thessaloniki Metro extension to Kalamaria, he mentioned a potential further delay due to coordination issues among contractors, which AKTOR is unofficially overseeing. Despite the complexity, he is optimistic about meeting the February 2026 target.

AKTOR’s capacity to complete major projects quickly was highlighted, citing its ability to finish the Thessaloniki Metro in nine months and the Patra-Pyrgos project in one and a half years, contrasting with other companies.

With investments of around €1 billion out of €2 billion announced in its transformation plan, the group already reports results, expecting revenue increase from €1.3 billion last year to €1.48 billion in 2025, with EBITDA rising to €200 million, driven mainly by real estate and concessions.

The upcoming finalization of the corporate restructuring, including the creation of five subsidiaries by September-end, alongside the acquisition of a €580 million property portfolio in Southern Europe, aims to ensure steady cash flows, with total assets anticipated to grow significantly over five years.

The group's renewable energy portfolio is advancing, with negotiations ongoing for projects expected to reach 350-400MW by year's end, aiming for 1,300MW operational or ready-to-build capacity by 2028, including joint developments with PPC. AKTOR also plans to invest heavily in energy storage solutions, considering batteries the key to solving Greece’s energy issues.

On offshore wind farms, Exarchou pointed out the high challenges due to the touristic nature of Greek coastlines, noting that such projects are currently unprofitable without subsidies, and might be reconsidered if financial support becomes available.
